Terrible experience. waiting for 1 hour, but no one helped us with anything. Even after I walked out to find someone to order our food, the server still treated us like air until we left with a empty stomach.

i eat a lot of sushi. this place is great. consistent food, great menu. its funny, the first time i ate here i thought it was crap, bad service, mediocre food. turns out every place has an off night. this has been a real lesson in first impressions in restaraunts. I've now eaten at this place over 100 times and it is excellent, probably in the top 3 sushi places in Victoria.

Suuuuuper yummy don's. If you don't know what a don is, it is a Japanese dish that is generally in a bowl, some sort of meat and vegetable on top of a bed of rice. I have had almost every don on the menu, and they are all (so far) excellent. The price range for this restaurant is pretty standard/ reasonable, to a good deal (if you go on the right days for specials). Other nice items on the menu are the deep fried sushi rolls. These are not just items within the rolls being deep fried, but the physical roll dipped in oil and batter and then served hot with soy sauce. These rolls are pretty amazing, and there are a couple different types - all of which are crunchy and made better dipped in soy sauce. If this doesn't convince you to at least go in and try something, I hope you could try their delivery on some of their usual foods (standards of a Japanese restaurant in Victoria) like spring rolls, edamame and nigiri. This is not a place for people wants real Japanese food. The kitchen is slow and the food quality is bad. Like the steak sauce though.

Really love this restaurant! The food is always A+ .. My mum and I come here almost every Sunday.. The Family Dinner for 2 is perfect, a little taste of everything! 💕

Good food and service

Tuna was white, crab meat in roll was fake crab which is ok but it tasted off. Very small. Teriyaki chicken tastes weird almost not safe to eat with a rubbery texture . Sauce was ok. Watery. Salad was mainly lettuce with a pleasant sauce. Rice was overdone and bland. No sushi vinegar was present . Almost the worst sushi experience I’ve had since moving out to BC. Waitress was nice at least. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

My husband and I thought we’d try this restaurant instead of our Bento Box at Japanese Village. The Teriyaki and Ginger beef was pretty much shedded. I love green tea but it tasted fishy, so did the Miso Soup.A bummer to both.Small quantity of dressing on salad and sauce on rice. Great staff though.We will stick to our usual place and unfortunately won’t be going here again.Sorry.

Tired interior, and staff not very engaged. Often cold in the winter. Most of their rolls and appetizers are properly made, but avoid the chicken, as they use a very cheap cut.

Went here for the first time during their quiet hours so no one else was there except a friend and I, so it's hard to fully judge the experience from a busy standpoint. The server was quite attentive, however. Both my friend and I have multiple food allergies and she was able to answer and accommodated them. I'll admit their sushi rolls (or at least the one I got) was quite small, but I do like how they use real crab instead of imitation crab. I'll have to go back sometime and check out the rest of the menu items.

The fish was not fresh, most of it seemed to be frozen, and it was quite tasteless. The price paid was too much for the bad and sometimes unidentifiable fish! I recommend that you do not frequent this place as there are much better options in Oak Bay and the wider Victoria, B.C.

This is my go to restaurant for any lunch situation. Business meeting, lunch with a buddy, meeting my wife etc. Friendly atmosphere, great bento box specials, delicious sashimi and sushi, it ticks all the boxes. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

One of my favorite sushi places to go always amazing service and food

Really disappointed. We based our decision on the restaurant reviews but upon arrival, had to wait over 10 minutes to be seated although the restaurant was almost empty. Waited nearly 1.5 hours for food that came sporadically at different times to different people. The food was good but the service was entirely disappointing.

My second visit was as good as my first. I will definitely return. Fried tofu appetizer and beef noodle dish were very good. Not exceptional 5-star kind of place but happy to recommend for good food, prices and service.

Pretty bad food.

I used to frequent this place a lot when I lived in the Oak Bay neighborhood. The food is nicely presented, not overstuffed with rice (as some sushi restaurants tend to do), always fresh, and the service is lovely. The servers are quick to right anything that may go awry and they are always very pleasant. Vivi is our favorite server and we love stopping in to see her. This place is a gem and deserves more attention!

Large selection of menu items. Great decor and setting. Ideal for a group of 4. Nothing to complain about any menu item we ordered. The server we had was exceptional, and the sake delicious.

SERVICE: Great service with prompt service, and friendly staff.FOOD: We came on a Monday and miso soup was free. There are daily specials. The miso was great. The two rolls we ordered were well prepared and very tasty. The sesame sauce and rice was excellent. The tuna sashimi was excellent! It melted in oir mouths and was flavourful, the cuts were perfect, and properly cut! ACCESSIBILITY: There is a level ground entrance with a standard pull door. The are tables with free standing tables with chairs and a few booths with fixed seating. Bathrooms are single occupant with wide doors and labeled accessible with a diagonal assist bar next to the toilet. The sink is about 30 inches high. The towel dispenser, however, is about 60 inches high.

Had bentos here for lunch. The food was decent. The salmon teriaki was dry and somewhat chewy, the tempura was excellant, the salad had some brown leaves in it, the rice has this sesame sauce that was on it that was pretty tasty, and the sunomono had lovely broad noodles although there was not that many of them. Seems to be open more often than other options in the area.

The food is decent. The service is terrible. Tonight they were understaffed. It took a good 8 minutes for them to come up to us for our order. Then another 15 or more for our food.

This sushi place was close walking distance for me and since my whole family are sushi fanatics, we ate there and did take out very frequently. The staff were awesome and sushi really good. If we still lived in Oak Bay we would be continuing to go. I definitely recommend as a nice local sushi restaurant.

Quaint little sushi restaurant on Oak Bay's main strip. Friendly staff helped accommodate us with our young son. A nice sized eating area bigger than the other little sushi places along the strip. Good selection of your typical sushi restaurant. Fresh roles and dollar off sunomono salads on a Wednesday night went down a treat.

I've been here quite a few times so I feel I can now give an informed review. The menu features the basics which nearly all japanese restaurants have, nothing special. Pricing ranges from fair to somewhat expensive. The decor is nice and cozy. Service is alright as well, nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest issue here is the most important: the food. If you consider yourself a foodie, don't eat here. If you know what good japanese cuisine should taste like, don't eat here. If you're just looking for a place to eat and aren't picky, you can give it a chance. One bright spot here is the steak sauce, but everything else is mediocre.
